Kaspersky Password Manager app marks 10th anniversary with updated design and enhanced usability

In 2014, Kaspersky premiered its mobile app for password management and protection – Kaspersky Password Manager. For 10 years it has helped more than four million users in 140 countries to generate strong passwords, safely log-in into accounts, and store private data such as encrypted documents and photos securely. To celebrate the anniversary, Kaspersky is making the user experience ever better with a series of app design updates and enhanced features.

In a recent study, Kaspersky’s experts analyzed 193 million compromised passwords found in the public domain of the darknet. Almost half of these passwords – 45% – were unlocked by smart guessing algorithms in less than a minute, and only 4% were strong. Most of the weak passwords contained dictionary words and names, making them easy for a machine to guess.

Kaspersky Password Manager helps users generate strong passwords and quickly log into multiple accounts. Additionally, it can generate codes for two-factor authentication to help users store their banking details, documents, photos, and notes.

The 10th anniversary additions see an update to Kaspersky Password Manager app design and improved navigation for iOS and Android. These changes are based on thorough research of the users’ behavior patterns, conducted by the Kaspersky team over several years. Now Mobile apps feel more convenient by integrating the most common user interactions, and got a new, visually appealing, look.

The most notable updates include:

• A tap bar at the bottom of the screen that provides quick access to frequently used app features like “Tools” and “Search.” Kaspersky Password Manager helps generate strong passwords with one click, checks password strength, and notifies users if their passwords have been leaked. All of these functions are gathered in the “Tools” section. “Search,” one of the most popular features, allows users to quickly navigate through account login details, folders, files, and notes. It also keeps the last search results;

• A “Sync” button added to the main screen, so users can instantly keep password database updated and synched across their devices;

• “Favorites” are now displayed at the top of the entry list, for a quicker access;

• A “Buy subscription” button added to the main screen for a quick switch from free to paid version of the app. The Premium version of Kaspersky Password Manager allows users to store an unlimited number of passwords, documents, photos and card details.

To introduce the updates, users will be prompted to go through a quick onboarding process that starts automatically after the app update.

“For the last decade, Kaspersky Password Manager has helped customers to protect their passwords, banking details, and documents. It offers a range of privacy protection tools, including password generation, leak alerts, and file encryption. Now, it features a new design and improved navigation based on customer needs – a great start to mark the next decade. We believe existing and new customers will appreciate the updates,” commented Marina Titova, Vice-President, Consumer Product Marketing at Kaspersky.
