The Egyptian Food Bank (EFB), the region’s pioneering nonprofit organization dedicated to combating hunger, announced the launch of its 20th annual Al Adha Sacrifice Program for 2025. Since its inception in 2006, this flagship program has enabled donors to fulfill the religious duty of Al Adha Sacrifice in full compliance with Islamic principles while ensuring that high-quality meat reaches the most vulnerable families across all Egyptian governorates.

Since introducing Al Adha Sacrifice Program in Egypt in 2006, EFB has developed a comprehensive model that ensures the religious ritual of sacrifice is performed in full compliance with Islamic law, while achieving the highest standards of efficiency in distributing meat to rightful beneficiaries.
The program follows a meticulous process, starting with the careful selection of sacrificial animals according to strict health criteria, followed by slaughtering during the prescribed days of Tashreeq, and culminating in the organized distribution of meat to thousands of registered families nationwide. These operations are supported by advanced infrastructure, highlighted by EFB’s “Wafra” farm in Beheira Governorate, a cornerstone of the program’s success.
For 2025, the price of a Baladi (local) Sacrifice is EGP 9,700, entitling recipients to 10 kilograms of fresh meat, while the imported Sacrifice costs EGP 6,300 and covers 8 kilograms. The program also offers group Sacrifice, where seven shares collectively cover either a Baladi cow at EGP 67,900 for 70 kilograms of meat or an imported cow at EGP 44,100 for 56 kilograms. Additionally, a Sadaqah meat donation option is available for EGP 690, providing 3 kilograms of meat.
This year’s program targets 2,392 partner associations across Egypt, aiming to distribute a total of 301,948 kilograms of meat to families in need. Meat delivery will commence on the second day of Eid al-Adha and continue throughout the holiday, ensuring broad and timely support. Moreover, three kilograms of rice will be distributed alongside each kilogram of meat, creating a balanced nutritional meal that enhances the impact of the assistance provided.
“Al Adha Sacrifice Program is among our flagship programs since its inception in 2006. It is designed to facilitate the fair and systematic provision of sacrificial meat to those most in need. The program has achieved significant success over the years by distributing large quantities of meat to millions of families, thereby improving their food security. We continuously update our beneficiary database to ensure support reaches the most deserving, underscoring the importance of community participation in this initiative, which uniquely combines religious observance with social service.” Remarked Mohsen Sarhan, CEO of the Egyptian Food Bank.
This year, EFB also launched the “Al Adha Food Box” initiative as a complementary option to the sacrifice vouchers. The food box is available in two versions; the first priced at EGP 750 includes 2 kilograms of imported buffalo veal meat alongside essential dry food items such as rice, oil, tomato sauce, and salt; the second, at EGP 300, contains a variety of dry food staples including rice, pasta, legumes, sugar, flour, oil, plant-based cheese, and tomato sauce.
Distribution relies on a robust network of partner associations spanning all governorates, with one kilogram of meat allocated per family to ensure fairness and operational effectiveness.
Since it’s founding in 2004, the Egyptian Food Bank has established itself as a leading civil society organization systematically combating hunger, achieving food security, and supporting hundreds of thousands of families struggling to secure adequate and safe nutrition. With the launch of the 2025 Al Adha Sacrifice Program, EFB invites citizens to join this charitable cause by donating through sacrifice vouchers or the “Al Adha Food Box”, ensuring that sacrificial meat reaches deserving families in villages and remote areas with high quality and transparency.
