DP World – Egypt and Suez Canal University Launch the Second Phase of the Faculty of Physical Therapy Development Project

Building on the remarkable success of the first phase of the Faculty of Physical Therapy development project at Suez Canal University, DP World – Egypt has announced the signing of a new cooperation protocol with the university to launch the second phase of this pioneering community initiative. The project underscores the company’s strong commitment to advancing medical education and improving the quality of healthcare services in Egypt.
Under the new agreement, the total project investment amounts to approximately EGP 18 million, in line with DP World – Egypt’s vision to empower the education and healthcare sectors through sustainable initiatives that develop human capabilities and enhance the quality of life.
The protocol was signed by Mr. Mohamed Shehab, Chief Executive Officer, DP World Egypt, representing the company, and Prof. Dr. Nasser Mandour, President of Suez Canal University, during a ceremony held at the Faculty of Physical Therapy. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sarhan, Dean of the Faculty, Mr. Mohamed Tarek, Head of Security, Government Relations, and Public Affairs – Egypt Executive Management, along with senior representatives from both the university and the company.
The second phase focuses on equipping the faculty’s outpatient clinics with the latest physiotherapy and rehabilitation devices, including the establishment of a Cardiopulmonary Laboratory fitted with systems to assess cardiac and respiratory efficiency. It also features advanced muscle dynamics equipment, manual therapy tables, high-intensity medical laser systems, and an anti-gravity treadmill, all of which are utilized for patient rehabilitation and safe mobility recovery.
Additionally, the phase introduces spinal decompression therapy devices for back pain relief and pressure reduction on the spine, along with an array of advanced tools designed to enhance the skills of young medical professionals and enable the faculty to deliver exceptional healthcare services to the local community.
This new phase builds on the achievements of the first stage, during which DP World – Egypt introduced a state-of-the-art Digital Anatomy System to the Faculty of Physical Therapy. The system transformed anatomy education by allowing students to interact with 3D models of the human body, supported by a comprehensive digital learning library.
The company also provided the faculty with high-quality anatomical models, creating a modern learning environment that bridges digital knowledge with hands-on practice. More than 3,600 students benefited from this system in its first year alone, as its use expanded to include the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, and Nursing, thereby increasing the faculty’s capacity and enhancing the overall quality of education.
Commenting on the signing, Mr. Mohamed Shehab, Chief Executive Officer, DP World Egypt, said:
“At DP World – Egypt, we believe that true investment lies in people. We are proud to continue our fruitful partnership with Suez Canal University by launching the second phase of this flagship initiative, which combines support for medical education with enhancements to healthcare services. Together, we are preparing a new generation of doctors and physiotherapists ready to meet global standards in medicine and rehabilitation.”
Prof. Dr. Nasser Mandour, President of Suez Canal University, stated:
“We take great pride in our constructive partnership with DP World – Egypt, which stands as a leading example of collaboration between academia and the private sector. This initiative has significantly improved the infrastructure of the Faculty of Physical Therapy and strengthened students’ practical training, positively impacting the quality of higher education and healthcare services offered to our community.”
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Sarhan, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Therapy, emphasized that this collaboration marks a milestone in enhancing the faculty’s capabilities and empowering its students to learn through the latest educational and therapeutic technologies:
“We have witnessed firsthand the impact of the first phase, supported by DP World – Egypt, in transforming the learning process within the faculty. The second phase represents a new leap towards integrating academic knowledge with practical application, preparing our students to serve the community with excellence and confidence.”
DP World – Egypt affirms that this project is part of its comprehensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, which prioritizes education, healthcare, and environmental protection. The company believes that sustainable development begins with empowering people.
Through its community initiatives, DP World – Egypt continues to focus on creating advanced educational and healthcare environments across the communities in which it operates, aiming to generate a lasting positive impact that contributes to both societal progress and national economic growth.
