Danone highlights its commitment to empowering people with disabilities through yogurt production training in partnership with “We Care” Charity Foundation

In a significant step towards fostering inclusion, Danone Egypt organized a visit for officials, key stakeholders, and media representatives to showcase its efforts in empowering people with disabilities by training them to produce yogurt in partnership with the “We Care” Charity Foundation. The project showcased the establishment of a yogurt production lab, designed by Danone Egypt within the foundation, in partnership with ‘PET Egypt’, a leading provider of packaging solutions, and Al-Asdekaa Dairy.

As part of this project, Danone supplies milk weekly from its farm in Nubariya to the production lab within We Care in Obour, one of the charity foundations dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for people with disabilities. The yogurt cups produced are sold within the foundation, allowing individuals with disabilities to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of production, from manufacturing to sales, providing additional income.

The visit was attended by Mr. Hesham Radwan, General Manager of Danone Egypt, Dr. Nabil Fawzi, Founder of We Care Charity Foundation, and Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Tarek El Nabulsi, Director of the Development and Social Policies Department at the League of Arab States. Several officials were also present, including Dr. Sahar Khairy, Dean of the National Institute of Nutrition, Dr. Mohamed Ali Gabr, Assistant to the Governor of Beni Suef, Dr. Alaa Saeed, Director of Economic Development at Beni Suef Governorate, and Mr. Khalil Mohamed Khalil, Head of the Central Administration for Disability Affairs at the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

During the visit, project representatives highlighted the extensive efforts undertaken to achieve its ambitious goals. They emphasized the provision of advanced training opportunities that enhance the skills of people with disabilities, facilitating their professional integration and broadening their employment prospects while reinforcing their active role in society.

The tour included a detailed visit to the production lab, where attendees were introduced to modern operational mechanisms that ensure compliance with the highest standards of quality and efficiency. They also observed the use of advanced equipment and technologies that enhance the professional skills of individuals with disabilities, paving the way for stable and sustainable career paths, further reflecting the project’s commitment to empowerment and inclusive development.

Reflecting on the visit, Mr. Hesham Radwan, General Manager of Danone Egypt, emphasized the significance of the collaboration with the “We Care” Charity Foundation. “This initiative is a testament to our unwavering commitment to social responsibility and inclusion. By providing comprehensive training on nutritional habits and yogurt production, we are not only enhancing their skills but also fostering a sense of independence and self-reliance. This project is a cornerstone of Danone’s mission to promote social inclusion and support the well-being of all community members, especially children with disabilities.”

On his part, Dr. Nabil Fawzy, Founder of “We Care” charity foundation, affirmed that the organization is dedicated to building a comprehensive and sustainable framework for empowering people with disabilities, focusing on strengthening their self-reliance. “Through this production laboratory, we provide a practical environment that enables participants to develop both personal and professional skills. They are involved in every stage of production, making this project more than just an educational opportunity; it provides real-world experience that enhances their readiness for the job market. This contributes to their effective social integration and opens broader prospects for a more independent and sustainable future.” he added.

Through this collaboration, the project partners play a vital role in ensuring its success. PET Egypt, a leading provider of packaging solutions, supplies the yogurt cups necessary to maintain the final product’s quality. Meanwhile, Al-Asdekaa Dairy provides technical training and oversees the production process, ensuring adherence to the highest manufacturing standards. This cooperation enhances product quality while creating a comprehensive learning and training environment.
