Huawei Cloud launches HUAWEI Developer Competition 2024

 As part of its overarching strategy to build a fully connected and intelligent world and drive digital progress, Huawei Cloud hosted its annual “Huawei Developer Conference Northern Africa 2024” in Cairo, under the theme “Spark Infinity” which brings together a group of experts in information technology to discuss the latest advancements in cloud computing and artificial intelligence, with the goal of building a smart, flexible, and reliable cloud system in Egypt and North Africa.

By providing a platform for knowledge sharing, fostering innovation, and stimulating technological creativity, the conference highlighted Huawei Cloud’s dedication to bolstering the regional tech ecosystem through substantial investments and incentives. Leveraging AI, databases, and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), the conference inspires developers to create groundbreaking solutions.
Dr. Haitham Hamza, Acting Chairman of the Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC), stated: “Huawei’s Developers Conference comes in line with the increasing efforts of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and its affiliated bodies, most notably the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), in developing Egypt’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy. This strategy aims to provide a supportive environment for developers and innovators to boost creativity and innovation, develop a applications that addresses contemporary challenges, and create added value that reinforces Egypt’s role as a leading regional hub in this field.”
Mr. Jo Xu, CEO of Huawei Cloud Egypt Business Group, stated that Egypt is at a key turning point in its digital transformation journey. He also emphasized that Huawei is dedicated to advancing the developer community, building a robust talent development framework, and driving both technological innovation and industry progress.
Furthermore, Jason Ye, COO of Huawei Cloud Northern Africa, said “Huawei Cloud officially launched its services in Egypt this year, marking our deep involvement in Egypt’s digital transformation and demonstrating our commitment to advancing the local ecosystem. We look forward to collaborating with developers to create technology platforms and learning opportunities, and to jointly generate more business value.”
Huawei CLOUD experts, along with customers and partners, concentrated on AI, databases, and PaaS, providing in-depth interpretations and sharing insights on technical hotspots, best practices, and development trends across various platforms, including:
• CodeArts, a one-stop R&D platform, integrates DevOps tools into a unified experience and transforms the R&D process.
• Huawei GaussDB is setting the new standard in managing data explosion. For instance, it provides China’s largest state-owned banks with a state-of-the-art distributed system that achieves response times of under 3 seconds for concurrent transactions.
• ModelArts is an AI workbench that simplifies machine learning by handling infrastructure and pipelines, allowing users to focus on developing ML models. It streamlines the entire ML lifecycle, from data preparation to model deployment, enhancing innovation and productivity in AI development.
To further empower young talent, Huawei launched the “Huawei Developer Competition 2024” at the conference to encourage developers to make use of the technologies and capabilities of Huawei Cloud to develop creative projects and applications. This competition gives developers the chance to unleash their creativity and access Huawei Cloud’s tools to develop applications that address current challenges and create value for communities.
In light of that, Xingcheng Lee, Director of Huawei Cloud Oversea Developer ecosystem at Huawei, said, “Huawei Cloud is committed to shaping the digital landscape and empowering the next generation of tech innovators in North Africa. This conference underscores our dedication to building a dynamic developer ecosystem by providing essential insights and tools for leveraging Huawei Cloud technologies. By participating in the competition, developers gain access to the latest technical advancements, enhance their skills, and collaborate with peers, driving forward the development of innovative solutions.”
Additionally, Omar Fathy, The HDC Competition Winner of 2022, also testified to this in his speech “The Huawei Developer Competition aims to highlight technical excellence, uncover outstanding projects, and recognize top talent. This year’s theme, “Spark Infinity,” opens Huawei’s technological advancements across various industry domains, inviting developers to leverage their creativity and innovation. By offering access to APIs and development tools, Huawei empowers participants to explore new possibilities, in order to establish a premier competition platform that fosters limitless innovation and value creation.
It is worth noting that Huawei’s “Developer Conference Northern Africa 2024” in Cairo marks a significant milestone in its ongoing mission to build a fully connected, intelligent world.
