The British Council’s TeachingEnglish programme is pleased to announce the MENA Online Conference 2025, a free, two-day regional event for English teachers and teacher educators across the Middle East and North Africa. Taking place online on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 October 2025, the conference is themed “Teaching English in a multilingual Middle East and North Africa” and aims to inspire educators to embrace learners’ linguistic and cultural diversity as a resource for effective English teaching.
This year’s conference brings together expert trainers, classroom practitioners, and education specialists from across the MENA region to share research, classroom insights, and innovative practices that reflect the realities of teaching in multilingual contexts. Participants will explore how first languages and local cultures can enrich English classrooms, strengthen learners’ confidence, and create inclusive learning environments.
Over two days of interactive sessions and live discussions, attendees will engage with topics ranging from strategic use of learners’ first language to inclusive feedback practices, pronunciation strategies for young learners, and creative ways of incorporating storytelling and oral traditions into language learning. All webinars will be streamed live via Zoom, Facebook, and YouTube, with certificates of attendance and session recordings available to all participants free of charge.
Reflecting the British Council’s commitment to advancing professional development opportunities for teachers, the MENA Online Conference 2025 continues the organisation’s mission to connect educators, promote inclusive learning, and celebrate the power of collaboration across borders.
Speaking about the event, Zakaria Doaa, Regional English Connects Lead – MENA, said:
“This conference is a celebration of the creativity and resilience of teachers across the region. By recognising the value of multilingualism and local culture in English classrooms, we empower educators to build inclusive, confident, and globally connected learners. The MENA Online Conference 2025 is more than a professional development event, it’s a space for teachers to inspire one another and shape the future of English teaching in the region.”
Building on the success of previous TeachingEnglish regional events, the MENA Online Conference 2025 is open to all English teachers and teacher educators in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as anyone interested in language education and professional development. Participation is completely free, with no registration fees.
Teachers can join the live sessions through the official TeachingEnglish website or follow the conference on social media platforms to take part in real-time discussions and reflections.
