Jamjoom Pharma Partners with Idorsia for Insomnia Care

Landmark agreement with Idorsia adds an innovative, first-in-class treatment for insomnia to Jamjoom Pharma’s growing therapeutic portfolio, reinforcing the company’s regional expansion strategy and its long-standing commitment to improving patients’ quality of life across the Middle East and Africa

Jamjoom Pharmaceuticals Factory Co. (“Jamjoom Pharma”), a leading Saudi pharmaceutical company listed on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul), today announced an exclusive agreement with Idorsia Ltd (SIX: IDIA) for the distribution and commercialization of QUVIVIQ™ (daridorexant) in Saudi Arabia and the Levant region. The partnership marks a significant step in Jamjoom Pharma’s continued diversification into new therapeutic areas and underscores the company’s mission to bring innovative, high-quality medicines to patients across a region where the burden of untreated sleep disorders remains high.

The agreement gives Jamjoom Pharma the marketing authorization and full commercial responsibility for QUVIVIQ — Idorsia’s first-in-class dual orexin receptor antagonist for adults with insomnia — across Saudi Arabia and the Levant, adding a differentiated, science-backed sleep therapy to a portfolio already recognized for its depth in ophthalmology, dermatology, and chronic disease care.

Tarek Hosni, Chief Executive Officer of Jamjoom Pharma, commented:
“Insomnia affects millions of people across our region, yet it remains widely under-diagnosed and under-treated. Bringing QUVIVIQ to Saudi Arabia and the Levant is a direct extension of what we set out to do more than two decades ago: put safe, effective, and modern therapies within reach of the patients who need them most. This partnership builds on the strength of our regulatory expertise, our manufacturing and distribution network across more than 37 countries, and our belief that every community we serve deserves access to world-class healthcare. It is another step in our journey to become the leading healthcare organization in the Middle East and Africa by 2030, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.”

Benjamin Limal, President of Europe & International Markets for Idorsia, added:
“We are delighted to partner with Jamjoom Pharma, a leading pharmaceutical company in Saudi Arabia and the Levant region. With Jamjoom’s strong market presence, deep regulatory expertise, and well-established commercial infrastructure, Jamjoom Pharma is ideally positioned to support the successful launch and broad access of our innovative insomnia treatment. As we continue to execute our international growth strategy for QUVIVIQ, partnerships such as this are instrumental in expanding commercialization across new geographies and maximizing patient access globally.”

Under the terms of the agreement, Jamjoom Pharma will hold the marketing authorization for QUVIVIQ in Saudi Arabia and will lead all regulatory, distribution, promotion, and commercialization activities across Saudi Arabia and the Levant region, drawing on its established commercial infrastructure and regional market knowledge. Idorsia will supply the finished drug product for the agreed territories and will receive an upfront payment along with additional payments, including royalties on net sales.

A growth story rooted in patient access
The QUVIVIQ agreement is the latest milestone in a broader expansion strategy that has seen Jamjoom Pharma grow into a diversified healthcare partner present across the Middle East and Africa region. For 25 years, the company has built a portfolio of more than 147 brands, invested in state-of-the-art manufacturing and R&D facilities in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Algeria, and taken a leading role in advancing local pharmaceutical production in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

Adding QUVIVIQ to its therapeutic offering allows Jamjoom Pharma to extend its patient-centered approach in the central nervous system care, complementing its established strength in the CNS space as well as the diversified chronic disease management. For a region where poor sleep quality is known to affect concentration, mood, and long-term health, the company sees the introduction of a modern, non-sedative treatment option as a meaningful contribution to public health.

QUVIVIQ — a different kind of insomnia treatment
Insomnia affects millions of people worldwide, yet many commonly used treatments can cause next-day drowsiness, dependence, and withdrawal symptoms, leaving a clear need for safer, effective alternatives. Discovered by Idorsia, QUVIVIQ works differently from traditional hypnotics. As a dual orexin receptor antagonist, it selectively targets the orexin system to help regulate overactive wake signaling, rather than broadly suppressing brain activity — supporting restorative sleep through the night while reducing morning grogginess and improving daytime functioning.

*Clinical trials published in The Lancet Neurology showed that daridorexant significantly improved sleep onset, sleep maintenance, and total sleep time at 25 mg and 50 mg doses compared with placebo, with the 50 mg dose also showing a highly significant improvement in daytime functioning. QUVIVIQ is marketed by Idorsia in North America and Europe, and is available in key international markets in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East through commercial partnerships. Idorsia also has a license and supply agreement for Latin America.
