Egyptian Tech Talent stands out at Huawei ICT Northern Africa Finals, Secures Spot in Global Competition in China 2024

Winning students demonstrated an outstanding performance in the competition which saw the participation of 30 teams from 9 countries across Northern Africa (North, West, and Central Africa). After excelling in a series of tests across three different tracks: Cloud, Computing, and Network, the students earned the opportunity to qualify to the final global phase held in China in May 2024, where they will compete with students from around the globe.
This year, the Grand Prize for the Cloud Track went to Mahmoud Hamam from Cairo University, Amir Mohammed from Mansoura University, and Omar Akram from Canadian International College (CIC).
The first Prize for the Network Track was given to Ahmed Saad from Benha University, Alaa Abd Al Fattah from the Modern Academy for Engineering and Technology, and Nader Mohamed from Suez University.
The second prize in the computing Track was given to Amira Ahmed from Cairo University, Ahmed El Sharkawy from Mansoura University, and Youssef Mahmoud from 6 October University.
The winning teams have secured this remarkable opportunity under the expert mentorship of Dr. Ahmed Osman of Suez University, Dr. Asmaa Etman of the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI), and Dr. Mohamed El Mogy of Mansoura University, the outstanding teams have earned this privilege. To ensure their utmost readiness for the final round of the global competition in China, the students will actively participate in an intensive boot camp.
Commenting on this occasion, Jim Liu, the CEO of Huawei Egypt said, “At Huawei, our unwavering dedication lies in fostering and empowering young talents in the ICT world. As we believe that youth hold the key to the future, we recognize the immense potential of the digital domain. Therefore, our focus is on nurturing a future generation that possesses the skills to adapt and thrive in a dynamic and ever-changing landscape. Our competition represents the essence of collaboration, excellence, and innovation, which are vital to drive the sustainable development of the ICT sector.”
Adnane Ben Halima, Vice-President in charge of Public Relations of Huawei Northern Africa, declared: “As of now, we have successfully trained more than 80,000 students on a range of subjects including artificial Intelligence, 5G, Big Data, Cloud computing, cybersecurity, and more.” He also added, “We strive to share our global experience and actively contribute to the evolution of regulations aimed at guiding growth of this key sector with our local and regional partners. However, there is a fundamental prerequisite for this digital transformation: the development of human capital. Without it, progress and the establishment of local ecosystems would be unattainable. Within this context, we do our best to share our technological knowledge and endeavour to support the youth in all the countries where we operate, aiming to foster and enhance this human capital”.
since its beginning in 2016 Huawei’s ICT competition has established itself as a prominent event within the ICT sector. Serving as a crucial platform, it actively nurtures the development of young talents, which underscores Huawei’s commitment to fostering the growth of young students and empowering them to become future leaders in the field of ICT. Notably, the final phase of the 2024 edition will bring together over 20,000 students from 500 universities, creating an immersive environment for knowledge exchange and skill enhancement on a global scale.
