Huawei Cloud organized the final phase of its Developers Competition 2024 in Cairo, bringing together a distinguished group of developers, experts, and tech innovators to celebrate creativity and innovation. This event builds on the success of the “Huawei Developers Conference 2024,” held last August, and underscores Huawei’s unwavering commitment to fostering a thriving digital ecosystem. By enhancing local talent and showcasing cutting-edge innovations, Huawei is empowering a new generation capable of leading sustainable digital transformation in Egypt and Northern Africa.
The first phase of the competition kicked off with great enthusiasm, with 251 innovative teams participating. After fierce competition, 8 outstanding teams advanced to the finals: Cloudy, Enjaz, GS Team, Little Mermaid, Manetho, MAY-X, mno, and semicolon. These finalists presented their groundbreaking solutions to a distinguished panel of judges: Eng. Mahmoud Osama, Electronics Innovation Project Manager at ITIDA; Eng. Sherihan M. Ahmed Abd-Rabou, System Development Department Manager at ITI; Professor Emad Abd-Elrahman, Head of the Computer & Systems Department at NTI; and Ahmed Talaat, CTO of Huawei Cloud Northern Africa.
The competition concluded with the honoring of the four winning teams, who will represent Egypt in the Northern Africa regional competition. The winning projects were distinguished by pioneering innovations in vital areas such as smart transportation, supply chain optimization, healthcare development, and boosting the tourism and logistics sectors.
Further emphasizing its commitment, the event also included the signing of an MoU between the Ministry of Higher Education and Huawei to launch the “Huawei Cloud Club” in Egyptian universities. The Club will focus on building a cloud ecosystem while collaborating on curriculum development, talent training and certification, establishing a developer community, and organizing technical events. The goal of this collaboration is to advance cloud computing technology in Egyptian universities, cultivate highly skilled developers and technical talent, foster the growth of the Huawei Cloud ecosystem, and jointly work on curriculum development, certification systems, and technical activities. This partnership aims to provide strong support for Egypt’s digital transformation and innovation development.
Dr. Sherif Kishk, Assistant to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for Smart Governance, emphasized the crucial impact of technology on the development of societies. He stated: “Technology is the cornerstone of progress in our modern world. At the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, empowering youth is a fundamental priority, and we are dedicated to nurturing a generation of innovators and leaders capable of shaping the future. We greatly appreciate the groundbreaking efforts of leading companies like Huawei. Furthermore, the launch of Huawei Cloud Cairo Region on May 21, 2024 marks the first and only public cloud in Northern Africa, providing a unique innovation platform for developers and further strengthening the region’s technology ecosystem.”
Finally, Huawei offered exceptional support to the competition participants by providing access to the latest cloud technologies, specialized professional training tailored to their specific needs, and unique business development opportunities through Huawei Cloud’s Startup Program.
