Egyptian Youth Take a Leap Forward as Samsung Innovation Campus Celebrates the Graduation of its 6th Cohort

Samsung Electronics Egypt, in collaboration with Life Makers Foundation, the operating partner of Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC), celebrated the graduation of its sixth cohort. The pioneering program focuses on teaching coding, programming, AI, IoT, and big data, aiming to enhance the technical and academic skills of university and school students in Egypt. Since its inception in 2019, the program has benefited over 1,700 students.

The graduation ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Saada, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for Civil Work, and Executive Director of the Support Fund for Projects of Associations and Non-Governmental Organizations, Mr. Ahmed Gaafar, Samsung Electronics Egypt Chief Marketing Officer; Major General Mohsen El-Nomani, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Life Makers Foundation, Eng. Ahmed Mousa, CEO of Life Makers Foundation; Dr. Mohamed Azzam, Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab Council for Social Responsibility (ACSR); and Ms. Ola Aladdin, Chief Operating Officer of Vezeeta.

A hackathon was organized during the sixth round of SIC, themed “Citizen-Centric Application in Healthcare,” in partnership with the ACSR where 10 teams participated. ACSR will provide mentorship, collaboration opportunities, and funding for the team to secure first place, fostering innovation and supporting participants’ ambitions.

Enabling other teams to further develop their technical skills and gain practical experience in the tech industry, Vezeeta also announced technology-focused training opportunities for the teams securing the second and third place.

“I would like to congratulate the graduates of SIC for their outstanding dedication and hard work throughout the training. Their commitment has laid the foundation for a new generation of highly skilled youth, ready to make impactful contributions to various technological sectors, “remarked Ahmed Gaafar, Samsung Electronics Egypt Chief Marketing Officer. “SIC’s activities underscores Samsung’s mission to empower Egyptian youth by fostering innovation, driving technological progress, and promoting entrepreneurship. Through our strong partnerships with the Egyptian government, civil society organizations, and major corporations, we remain devoted to equipping young talents with the tools they need to master modern technologies and secure valuable training and employment opportunities.”

“We proudly celebrated the graduation of a new generation, armed with the technical and leadership skills needed to tackle future challenges,” stated Eng. Ahmed Mousa, CEO of Life Makers Foundation. “This project reflects the powerful partnership between Life Makers and Samsung Electronics Egypt and highlights its profound impact on youth empowerment. I extend my gratitude to our partners and encourage the graduates to persist in their journey of learning and excellence, becoming catalysts for change and a beacon of hope for a brighter future.”

“Our partnership with Samsung aligns with the council’s initiatives, such as ‘Mogtam3iTech,’ showcasing our dedication to driving meaningful innovation and creating a tangible impact. Our collective efforts strive to tackle social and economic challenges, with a particular focus on healthcare, to transform lives and foster a brighter, healthier society,” said Dr. Mohamed Azam, Deputy Secretary-General of ACSR.

Dr. Ola Aladdin, Chief Operating Officer of Vezeeta, said “Vezeeta is proud to partner with Samsung Electronics Egypt, as we share a common vision of empowering and nurturing top talent. Together, we strive to drive innovation through affordable and accessible digital healthcare solutions. This collaboration reflects our commitment to fostering the best minds in the industry, ensuring we create impactful solutions for patients and providers alike.”

As part of Samsung’s strategy to equip Egyptian youth with the tools needed to address future technological challenges, SIC was launched in 2019 in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the program has expanded partnerships with educational institutions and the private sector. This includes a recent collaboration with Egypt Education Platform, aimed at enhancing the technological skills of school and university students to improve their competitiveness in the rapidly evolving digital market.

Demonstrating its commitment to driving positive societal change, SIC garnered widespread acclaim and achieved remarkable recognition for its transformative impact on society, earning the Hope Givers award in Geneva in 2021. The award recognizes initiatives that contribute to building a more inclusive and empowered society. The accolade was presented recently in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports and officials from international organizations, reflecting the program’s significant societal impact.
