This summer, Hong Kong invites GCC families and panda lovers to a citywide celebration of cuteness overload as Hong Kong celebrates the first birthday of its adorable panda twins, Jia Jia and De De! Born on 15 August 2024 to giant panda parents Ying Ying and Le Le, residents of Hong Kong’s iconic nature-themed resort Ocean Park, the twins have stolen hearts across the globe.
From 1 to 31 August 2025, visitors can enjoy a month-long programme of family-friendly entertainment, shopping exclusives, and Instagrammable moments – all with a panda twist – making Hong Kong the perfect summer escape for travellers from the GCC and wider Middle East.
In celebration of the twins’ birthday, Hong Kong Tourism Board and Ocean Park have partnered with celebrated artist and author Kasing Lung to create a limited-edition LABUBU x Panda Twins vinyl toy collectable. The design features a bamboo-green LABUBU wearing a festive polka-dotted hat and holding the panda twins, packaged in a custom gift box with a hand-signed birthday card from Kasing Lung himself.
Visitors to Ocean Park from 1 to 31 August can pre-register online to enter a lucky draw for a chance to win one of approximately 300 exclusive gift boxes, with extra opportunities during the birthday weekend from 15–17 August.
Ocean Park – The Heart of the Celebrations
As the home of the panda twins, Ocean Park will be the heart of the celebrations. Throughout August, Ocean Park has teamed up with LINE FRIENDS characters to present the Panda Friends Summer Splash – a memorable mix of whimsical photo spots, water adventures and interactive games. Guests can dive into the Ball Pit Party, cool off at the Panda Friends Splash Playground or go all-in at the Water Battle Zone. Across the Park, you’ll find pop-up panda games, surprise giveaways like panda badges and party hats, and Instagrammable moments galore.
Evening entertainment includes the Gala of Lights – Panda Birthday Edition featuring spectacular light shows, dancing fountains, and themed music.
Exclusive merchandise and themed snacks, from plush toys of Jia Jia and De De in adorable uniforms to special family ticket packages giving access to both Ocean Park and Water World will also be available as a limited offer.
Take the Panda Trail Challenge Across Hong Kong
During August visitors to Hong Kong are presented with the Panda Trail Challenge to capture pictures of themselves at the panda installations popping up throughout the city. These include a number of MTR Metro stations decked out in creative panda artwork, 32 customised panda road signs for unique photo opportunities, and panda-themed installations at key landmarks and shopping districts. Th Panda Trail provides opportunities to discover the best of Hong Kong while adding an extra element of fun for the whole family.
