In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Yas Bay Waterfront and Yas Marina have collaborated with Pink Caravan and Friends of Cancer Patients to offer residents and visitors free clinical screenings and mammograms.
On Sunday, 5th October, the Pink Caravan mobile clinic will be stationed at Yas Bay Waterfront before moving to Yas Marina the following day, Monday, 6th October. Between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM on both days, adults of all genders aged 20 and above can receive free clinical breast screenings, while those aged 40 and above can get a free mammogram.
Recent research indicates that breast cancer remains the most prevalent cancer worldwide. According to 2025 data, breast cancer accounts for roughly 15 to 16% of all new cancer cases in women globally, with about 2.3 million new diagnoses. Meanwhile, men represent less than 1%, with around 20,000 new cases annually. Although rare, early detection via screening is advised, as men tend to exhibit symptoms later, often resulting in diagnoses at advanced stages.
Check-ups can seem somewhat intimidating, but a team of medical experts from Friends of Cancer Patients will be available to provide guidance throughout the process and answer any questions. Slots are limited at both locations, so individuals are encouraged to arrive early. Each participant will receive a small memento as a daily reminder to prioritise their health and wellbeing.
It is the second consecutive year that Yas Marina and Yas Bay Waterfront have collaborated with Friends of Cancer Patients to highlight the importance of early detection, prevention, and raising awareness around breast cancer. It also reaffirms both destinations’ commitment to supporting the local community’s health and wellbeing, as well as encourages sharing knowledge with their loved ones.
Since 2011, Pink Caravan, a pan-UAE breast cancer initiative, has been spreading awareness about cancer prevention and the importance of early detection. The initiative falls under the Friends of Cancer Patients’ “Kashf” programme, which promotes the early detection of cancer and aims to raise awareness around breast cancer early detection and screening methods.
