BYD, through its official distributor ManDream, announced the expansion of its DM-i intelligent hybrid vehicle family in the Egyptian market with the introduction of the all-new BYD Sealion 5 and BYD M9. The launch took place during a dedicated event held at the brand’s premises in Park St., New Cairo, in the presence of a distinguished group of media representatives and content creators specialized in the automotive and technology sectors.
Coming in line with BYD’s direction to deliver a driving experience closer to electric mobility, this launch features higher fuel efficiency and a combined driving range exceeding 1,000 kilometers. It supports the concept of smart and sustainable mobility, while offering an integrated suite of charging solutions that enhance everyday convenience. The launch is also supported by warranty programs and after-sales services designed to elevate customer comfort and peace of mind, reflecting the brand’s confidence in the quality and reliability of its vehicles. This comes as part of a comprehensive ownership experience focused on convenience, daily dependability, and the real-world application of advanced technologies.
The BYD Sealion 5 is a hybrid SUV built around DM-i technology as its core technological foundation. It combines an internal combustion engine with an electric powertrain to deliver higher fuel efficiency and lower running costs, while supporting performance across different driving conditions. The vehicle is powered by BYD’s Blade Battery, known for its high safety standards and thermal stability.
The Sealion 5 is positioned as a practical choice for customers seeking an SUV with spacious interiors and strong economic efficiency, offering fuel savings of up to 60% and total cost of ownership savings of up to 30%. It is also positioned as the most fuel-efficient vehicle in its category, delivering the longest range in its class, exceeding 1,000 kilometers.
The BYD Sealion 5 is available in two trims: Ultra and Luxury. The Ultra trim comes with a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine supported by a hybrid system with an electric motor, delivering 210 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. It is equipped with a 12.96 kWh battery, providing an urban electric driving range of up to 90 kilometers. The Luxury trim builds on the Ultra package with a larger 18.3 kWh battery, offering an urban electric driving range of up to 120 kilometers, in addition to a full suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), raising the level of comfort and in-car features.
Accordingly, the BYD Sealion 5 delivers a premium experience within its category, combining spacious interiors, efficient operation, and advanced technologies, including smart connectivity, safety systems, and driver assistance features. The vehicle is also offered as part of an integrated package that includes an original BYD home charger, a V2L external charging cable, and a portable emergency charging cable, supporting everyday ease of use and enhancing the ownership experience of plug-in hybrid vehicles.
The BYD M9 arrives as the first Premium 7-Seater from BYD to be introduced in this category in the market, reflecting the brand’s expansion into more luxurious segments and targeting customers seeking space, comfort, and advanced features. The vehicle is powered by advanced PHEV technology, with a hybrid system that combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and an electric motor. It offers a driving range exceeding 1,000 kilometers, meeting the needs of families and business professionals looking for a spacious, luxurious vehicle for daily use and long-distance journeys.
The BYD M9 features generous dimensions, measuring 5,145 mm in length and 1,970 mm in width, with a 3,045 mm wheelbase, enhancing cabin spaciousness for seven passengers. The vehicle also includes a wide range of features that support comfort and everyday usability, including a central display, a digital instrument cluster, and support for Wireless Apple CarPlay®️ and Android Auto®️.
The BYD M9 is available in two trims: Ultra and Luxury. The Ultra trim delivers 275 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque, supported by a 20.39 kWh battery that provides an urban electric driving range of up to 100 kilometers. The Luxury trim builds on the Ultra package with a 36.6 kWh battery, offering an urban electric driving range of up to 165 kilometers. It also features electrically adjustable second- and third-row seats, a full ADAS package with Blind Spot Detection, 8 airbags, and an Intelligent Damping Suspension System. In addition, the Luxury trim includes massage, heating, and ventilation functions for the first- and second-row seats, as well as a 12-speaker DiSound audio system.
The vehicle also offers a comprehensive range of comfort, driver assistance, and safety features, including a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, an ADAS package, and several interior comfort elements that enhance the mobility experience for all passengers.
Prices for the BYD Sealion 5 start from EGP 1,399,900 for the Ultra trim and EGP 1,649,900 for the Luxury trim, while prices for the BYD M9 start from EGP 3,299,900 for the Ultra trim and EGP 3,849,900 for the Luxury trim.
