KONE Egypt and Arabtec Partner to Boost Building Efficiency Through Early Design Integration

As Egypt’s construction sector continues to expand, developers are increasingly focused on delivering buildings that are more efficient, sustainable, and prepared for the needs of future communities. In this context, KONE Egypt, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, and arabtec, one of the leading companies in engineering, construction, and project management, have signed a long-term Strategic Cooperation Agreement to strengthen early-stage collaboration in the planning and design of future projects.
The agreement establishes a structured framework for cooperation that brings together KONE’s expertise in elevators, escalators, and People Flow solutions with arabtec’s engineering and project delivery capabilities. By involving vertical transportation expertise from the early design stages, the partnership aims to help developers better assess movement inside buildings, improve planning decisions before construction begins, and reduce potential complexity during project execution.
The collaboration reflects both companies’ shared commitment to supporting Egypt’s evolving urban landscape through more integrated, future-ready building solutions. It also highlights the growing importance of early coordination between design, engineering, construction, and mobility planning in creating buildings that are safer, more efficient to operate, and better aligned with the expectations of users, owners, and developers.
Through this partnership, customers will benefit from arabtec’s proven experience across residential, commercial, hospitality, healthcare, and infrastructure projects, combined with KONE’s lifecycle expertise across design support, installation, modernization, predictive maintenance, connected 24/7 monitoring, and digital technologies that enhance safety, reliability, and operational performance throughout the life of the building.
The agreement also supports a more collaborative model for project delivery, where key technical considerations are addressed from the earliest stages rather than after construction plans are already advanced. This approach is designed to help customers improve project outcomes from concept to completion, while supporting the development of high-performing buildings that create long-term value for both developers and end users.
Ahmed Fathi, Managing Director of KONE Egypt, said: “The best-performing buildings are not created by chance, they are shaped through collaboration from the very beginning. By bringing People Flow planning into the earliest stages of project design, we can help developers improve building performance, enhance the experience of everyone who uses the building, and create assets that deliver long-term value. Our partnership with arabtec reflects our commitment to supporting Egypt’s ambitious urban development through innovation, technical expertise, and trusted collaboration.”
Abdelrahman Ismail, Managing Director of arabtec, said: “At arabtec, we believe successful projects are built on strong partnerships and early collaboration. Working closely with KONE from the design phase enables us to deliver more integrated solutions, improve project efficiency, support better decision-making, and create greater value for our customers. This agreement reinforces our shared commitment to delivering high-quality developments that contribute to Egypt’s continued growth.”
Through this Strategic Cooperation Agreement, KONE Egypt and arabtec aim to introduce a more integrated approach to project planning and delivery, combining engineering excellence, advanced People Flow solutions, and lifecycle performance expertise. The partnership marks an important step in supporting the next generation of high-performing buildings across Egypt.
