Chairman of the Egyptian Insurance Company explains the vision of the Federation in his speech at the Sharm Rendezvous Conference

Your excellency. Dr. Mohamed Farid, Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority; Dr. Inas Samir Deputy of the Governor of South Sinai
Dr. Islam Azzam, Vice Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority
Distinguished guests, esteemed colleagues, and our valuable sponsors, speakers, and media partners,
It is truly an honor and a privilege each year to welcome you all to Sharm Rendezvous. This year, we gather for the 6th edition of this landmark event for the Egyptian insurance industry, proudly organized by the Insurance Federation of Egypt.
Standing here today, seeing the familiar faces of our partners, friends, and participants, I am reminded of the inaugural edition of this event.
I recall the moment we made the bold decision to launch this gathering and introduce it to both the local and regional markets.
Back then, there were many who believed in the potential of this endeavor, but there were also voices of doubt. They questioned what a new event from the Egyptian market could add to an already crowded calendar of regional and global industry meetings.

As we launch today the 6th edition, I am deeply grateful to each and every one of you.
and to the unwavering support we continue to receive from our regulator the Financial Regulatory Authority and the Egyptian government—thank you.

I am deeply grateful to all who contributed to this journey. To my former colleagues who laid the foundation, and to my current team whose dedication continues to elevate this event each year—thank you.
Today, Sharm Rendezvous stands proudly as one of the most significant and anticipated gatherings in the industry.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Sharm Rendezvous is not our only success story. Over the past 70 platinum years, the Federation has a legacy of accomplishments that have repositioned this institution as a powerful pillar supporting the Egyptian insurance market.
I had the pleasure of documenting much of this history through videos and books, which are accessible to all on the Federation’s channels.

Over these years, our greatest asset has been our people—our true capital. We’ve worked to enhance the Federation’s structure, bringing in fresh talent, and fostering a creative and innovative work environment for all. This balance of experience and innovation has transformed our work culture into one that anyone would be proud to join.

On the technical committee front, we have proudly led the way in establishing numerous innovative committees.
We were among the first Arab federations to create specialized committees, like the Sustainable Insurance Committee and the Inspection Experts Committee, each known for its distinctive focus and creativity.

Through the work of the technical committees, the Insurance Federation of Egypt has developed 24 new insurance products and crafted five technical guidelines, two of which are already published. These efforts help ensure our market remains robust and responsive to client needs.
In addition to technical workshops, we have organized specialized conferences, including the Medical Insurance and Healthcare Forum, the Financial Inclusion and Sustainability Event, and our pioneering Microinsurance Conference in Luxor, which will be in its fourth successful edition in 2025.
Supported by our Microinsurance and SME committee, these initiatives align with the strategic vision we developed in 2019 to reach underserved populations and foster economic growth and resilience.
This strategy was crafted to address the risks faced by uninsured individuals and sectors due to lack of awareness or income barriers.
On knowledge sharing and information dissemination, we have issued 355 weekly bulletins that are being distributed to more than 10.000 contacts, on new products, trends, critical worldwide events, and much more.
In line with our 2019 strategy focused on reaching underserved populations, we formed partnerships with organizations such as Ahl Masr Foundation and the Federation of Egyptian Industries to broaden our reach to small businesses and underserved communities.

Today, we continue this progress by signing protocols to support digital transformation within the insurance sector, aligning with Egypt’s national digitalization goals.
One with e-finance and the other with Egypt Post.

On another note, it’s worth mentioning that we have worked closely with our regulator to introduce key initiatives, including the establishment of two important insurance pools:
• The Egyptian Compulsory Insurance Pool in 2019
• Egyptian Pool for Travel Insurance in 2021
These pools have been instrumental in managing market dynamics, enhancing competition, and ensuring fair governance and coverage.
Additionally, we are actively collaborating with the Financial Regulatory Authority to develop a new insurance pool dedicated to Natural Catastrophe coverage, which we aim to introduce soon.
Dear Participants,
Turning to the topic of natural hazards, I am reminded of our critical role in advancing sustainability and building resilient communities. The Federation has made addressing these risks a central focus.
Since 2018, we have organized five annual marathons, each emphasizing important themes like health, road safety, and environmental sustainability, with a consistent focus on promoting a ‘green’ mindset through 2024.
I consider 2022 a milestone year in our sustainability efforts, marked by the Green Marathon in July and five dedicated workshops on sustainable insurance during COP 27 in November

Building on these efforts, and in solidarity with the global movement for a greener world, we came together this morning to plant 50 trees. This initiative, supported by the gracious contributions of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Farid is aimed at offsetting the CO₂ emissions from transportation used during the Rendezvous.
Additionally:
• Today and tomorrow, we will collect all leftover materials from the event for recycling and reuse.
• We are also making strides to reduce paper usage, moving towards electronic materials and recycled paper to further minimize our environmental footprint.

Last, but certainly not least, the Federation is actively collaborating with the FRA to launch parametric insurance for the Egyptian industry next year.
We are also building capacity through initiatives like our actuarial diploma program with AUC, which saw two graduates pass their first exams with the Society of Actuaries.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
This year’s Rendezvous comes at a pivotal time for our industry. We are stepping forward from steady growth into a future of innovation and progress, even as we face challenges such as economic pressures and geopolitical tensions.
Today and tomorrow, let us work together to discuss and shape the future of insurance.
Finally, I’d like to emphasize that our achievements reflect our collective effort, but our journey is far from over. I extend my sincerest gratitude to the Financial Regulatory Authority, especially H.E. Dr. Mohamed Farid, for his unwavering support of our industry.
Let us embrace the opportunities ahead and continue to work toward a sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous future for the insurance sector.
Thank you to all our sponsors, speakers, partners, and supporters. Your support is the foundation of this remarkable event.
