The Embassy of Italy in the United Arab Emirates, led by His Excellency Lorenzo Fanara, Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the UAE, hosted an exclusive reception at the Ambassador’s residence in Abu Dhabi to celebrate the 2,500th anniversary of the founding of Naples, one of Italy’s most historic and culturally significant cities.
The event brought together an esteemed gathering of senior UAE officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, media representatives, and members of the Italian community, along with admirers of Italian culture and heritage.
In his remarks, Ambassador Fanara highlighted the enduring spirit and legacy of Naples, describing the city as a living testament to Italy’s deep-rooted history of creativity and cultural exchange.
“Naples is not just a city — it is a story spanning twenty-five centuries of creativity and humanity,” said Ambassador Fanara. “It embodies the spirit of openness and cultural dialogue that lies at the heart of Italian civilization,” he added.
He further emphasized the special significance of hosting the celebration in Abu Dhabi, noting that it reflects the strong and growing ties between Italy and the United Arab Emirates. Ambassador Fanara commended the flourishing cultural, educational, and economic cooperation between the two nations, fostered through dynamic partnerships and shared values of innovation and diversity.
The evening featured classical music performances inspired by Naples’ artistic heritage, a mini art exhibition tracing the city’s journey from its ancient Greek and Roman origins to the modern day, and a culinary showcase of traditional Neapolitan delicacies, including pizza, mozzarella, and cannoli.
Concluding the celebration, Ambassador Fanara extended his gratitude to all guests and reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to promoting intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding. He expressed optimism for continued collaboration between Italy and the UAE in strengthening cultural diplomacy and shared progress in the years ahead.
